Coordinate Dimensions

Use this to ...

  • Create dimensions showing the distances of elements relative to a common origin.
  • Play the video to see a demonstration on adding coordinate dimensions. Do not adjust your volume; there is no sound associated with this video.

Process: Creating Coordinate Dimensions

1. clip_image004[1] Select Coordinate Dimension from the Distance Between fly-out on the Draw toolbar. clip_image008

2. If necessary, select the appropriate option from the Orientation list on the ribbon bar.

3. In the Graphics window, pick the origin element.

4. Pick the location and orientation of the origin dimension.

5. In the Graphics window, pick the next element.

6. Pick the location of the dimension.

7. Pick elements and place the dimension for each additional coordinate dimension.

8. Right-click to finish or select a new origin location.

Tips

  • It is possible to have more than one origin along an axis.
